Hey there 🙂 Today I am kicking off the (inter)national Scrapbook Day celebrations with a fun challenge that is going on over in the Citrus Twist Kits Facebook group (well, one of many NSD challenges, actually).
My challenge was to pick a project by one of my fellow design team colleagues and scraplift it. At first I wasn’t sure which one to pick because we have some amazingly talented ladies on the DT and I love their different styles, but after some scrolling I found this layout made by Chantal Philippe and was intrigued by the simplicity. I have always been a fan of Chantal’s work and her clean, simple pages that are just so pleasing to the eye.
Because I really liked the design of this page, I stuck to it almost 100%. I only added a few more paper layers at the bottom of the page and some layers behind my photo. I also stitched a small grid to the left of my photo and filled it with different embellishments, some paint splatters and some sequins (from my stash). I used the Citrus Twist “Malibu” May kits (scrapbook main + embellishment) for my project.
I didn’t add any journaling for this (apart from that snippet on the “Note to Self” sticker) because I have used this photo so many times for layouts and mini albums that I really don’t need it. But you could add journaling in one of the grid spaces, as hidden journaling, or like Chantal did, directly onto your page.
Of course I decided to write on that sticker after I had added my paint splatters (and before they were completely dry..), so I smudged some of them with my hand, but oh well.. things like that happen and it didn’t bother me enough here to try and fix it or redo the whole thing 😉 Sometime you just have to roll with it, haha.
I really love all the white space with those bright pops of colour. I think it fits the photo and the subject really well. Because if you have ever been to Cadaqués (the place where this photo was taken), this is exactly what it looks like there: all the white walls of the houses with bright colourful window shutters and flowers.
So I hope you feel inspired to give this challenge a try! Remember, you can pick any project by any CTK design team member to scraplift 🙂 And of course there is something to win 😉 Make sure to stop by in the CTK Facebook group to join in on the fun and learn more about the other challenges, the prizes and everything else. Oh, and you also should check out the shiny new Citrus Twist Kits website! It’s been completely revamped to make it even better for you and I think it turned out so good!
And if that isn’t reason enough to check out the new CTK website, maybe this is: as a fun little extra in this NSD blog hop, each DT member will share a bonus blog hop word, and if you collect them all over the weekend, you will be entered to win a $50 gift voucher to the CTK store. On the CTK website you will find a new one each day from Friday to Sunday. By the way, mine is “apricots”. I can’t wait to see if anyone gets the reference and knows why I chose this word ;)
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day and have a fun, scrappy iNSD weekend!
