Altenew | Watercolor Brush Markers Release Blog Hop + Giveaway
Hey there and welcome to the first Altenew* Blog Hop post in the new year 😀 And this one is really good because I got to play with something new (to me) and really fun! Altenew is releasing a new set of watercolor brush markers and celebrates this with an inspiring blog hop (and a giveaway!).
If you came from Caly Person’s blog, you are right on track. Hop on over to the Altenew Card Blog to start from the beginning & find the full blog hop list.
The new Winter Wonderland Watercolor Brush Markers Set contains 10 beautiful colors. What I love about those brush markers is how easy to use they are. You can easily control them to squeeze out how much or how little color you need.
Here’s what Altenew has to say about them: “Create stunning works of art with our Watercolor Brush Markers! The barrel is filled with water-based color, and coordinates with our line of inks. The flexible, yet sturdy bristles on the brush tip allow you to form both broad and fine strokes. Color can be applied straight from the marker, or diluted with water for a softer look.”
Watercolored Die Cut Cards
For my first set of cards (which is one of my favorites made with Altenew products so far!) I used the Mountain Mist, Lagoon and Emerald brush markers from the set to color a piece of white cardstock. I made sure to have some color variation, as I knew I would use the colored piece to die cut some shapes for my cards out of it.
For the cards on the left and right I used some of the leaf dies from the Rose Flurries 3D Die Set and the Fantasy Florals 3D Die Set. The one in the middle features the beautiful Leaf Medallion die.
After I had all the pieces cut out, I also partially applied some gold glitter embossing powder to some of the leaves and the leaf medallion. For the card below I only used the embossing powder on the wood veneer piece.
I then also used phrase stamps from different Altenew stamp sets to spell out a complete sentiment together with the words happy, love and sweet from the adhesive wood veneers.
I am really in love with this set of cards, I must admit. I’m just a sucker for white space and combine that with gold glitter, floral elements and beautiful watercolors.. what’s not to love?! 😀
Inked Rose Card
For this next card I used the Inked Rose stamp set with the coordinating dies. I first stamped both the rose and the leaves with black ink onto a white piece of cardstock, then die cut them and finally colored them with the Watercolor Brush Markers.
I then foam mounted them onto a white square card base to give the flower a little dimension and make it pop off the card. The hugs & kisses sentiment is also from the Inked Rose stamp set. As a final touch I added some black splatters (with the black watercolor brush marker) and black enamel dots.
I hope you enjoyed today’s projects and you will check out all the other stops on the hop for more inspiration with the new Watercolor Brush Markers! The next stop is Svitlana Shayevich. But before you click over, make sure to leave a comment below to be entered for the giveaway 🙂
