Hi there friends! If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you will probably have noticed that I have gotten a little bit more into cardmaking in the past few months. So when Spellbinders* asked me if I would like to create with their Card Kit of the Month for February called “Golden Swan”, I immediately said yes!
I was intrigued by the idea that I would get everything I need to create a set of 10 cards (or more) in this kit. From card bases to patterned papers, stickers, die cuts, stamps and an exclusive die set, it’s all in there. Even two different kinds of adhesive were included!
Card Set
Creating these cards was so much fun! And although I made nine cards, I still have most of the kit left to create even more! I also used some of the papers that were included (btw, most have gold foiling!) to create envelope liners. I think they give the cards a great touch.
Some of the cards took me less than three minutes to make, but I think they are just as great as the more time-consuming ones like the shaker card above. The only thing I added from my stash to make this one was the clear acetate for the shaker window. Everything else was included in the kit.
I think my favorite thing about this kit is the combination of the black and white patterns with the gold foiling and beautiful florals! I mean that’s basically the perfect recipe for me! 😀
Swan Card
I guess my favorite card of the whole set is the one that features the exclusive die set. First I used the flowers in the stamp set and gold heat embossed them onto the black card base. I then die cut two swans plus all the smaller bits like their wings, crowns and beaks and assembled them. The die is for a swan that’s facing left, but by turning over the die cut you will have one that’s facing right.
But then I also really like this very simple one (above). For this one I just cut a thin strip of one of the patterned papers, adhered it to a black card base and added another thin strip of the gold specialty paper. For embellishing I used one of the dimensional flower stickers and the “xoxo” clear sticker.
The die set also included the phrase “it’s your day”, so I die cut it from the gold paper and then adhered it to the same floral paper with the diagonal stripes. The gold sequins I added were also included in the kit.
I know there are a lot more talented people out there who create stunning, intricate cards, but I am still really happy with how mine turned out! 🙂 I hope you like them, too, and maybe you want to check out the Spellbinders Card Kit of the Month. It really is great value for money!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!
