How can it already be March?! Don’t get me wrong, I love that the days are getting longer and the weather is getting (slowly) better, but still it feels like Christmas was only yesterday!
But anyway, since it really is the beginning of March, that also means that there is a new challenge over on the Pinkfresh Studio blog. And this month the color palette is especially gorgeous. The colors were taken from the new Pinkfresh Studio Joyful Day collection*, but you can use any other collections that you have that fit these colors! The theme for this month is florals, and if you’ve been following me for a day or two, you will know that this is my most favorite theme!
Aren’t the colors just so pretty?? Now this challenge is open for any kind of project (cards, layouts, TN spread, …) and you can choose to use just the colors, just the theme or combine them, like I did on my layout.
This is Paradise Layout
For my layout I only used papers and embellishments from the Joyful Day collection. For the floral elements on this layout, I used some flower dies from my stash and the B-sides of the Being Us and Small Beginnings papers.
I tried to recreate the look of the blooming trees in my photo, so I also used the Love with Botanicals die set from Pinkfresh Studio and the True Story paper for the leaves and twigs.
To make the florals cluster pop off the page, I used an ink blending tool and my Hero Arts ink pads in soft pink, vanilla and soft apricot to create a hazy background behind them. I really love the soft look this gives!
Embellishing
For the centers of the die cut flowers I used the flower centers from those that are included in the puffy phrase stickers. Don’t discard them – they are perfect for small accents like this. Just think of them as puffy enamel dots 😉
I also tucked in a few floral stickers from the chipboard stickers, the puffy stickers and the puffy phrase stickers in between the leaves and around my title. For the title I used these gorgeous colorful mini puffy alpha stickers. I’m hoping that every Pinkfresh collection will have these in the future!
Finally I added a corner of the B-side of the True Story paper to the upper left corner on this layout. The colors fit my page perfectly and the pattern reminds me of traditional Spanish tiles. And since this photo was taken in Spain, I just had to use it!
I hope you like this layout and feel inspired to give the March challenge a go, too! If you do, make sure to upload your project to the March challenge post here to be elegible to win a $50 gift card to the Pinkfresh Studio shop!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you have a great week!
