Just wanted to pop in really quickly to share some exciting news with you all! A while ago Danielle from Creative Retreat had a design team call and I actually almost missed it! Just a few hours before the deadline I saw her post on IG (not sure how I could miss it before) and decided to give it a try since I’ve always loved seeing the kits she put together in the past.
Well, it actually took less than 24 hours until I heard back from Danielle saying that I had made it into the design team, yayy!! I’m really very excited and can’t wait for my first kit (the April kit) to arrive! I’ve already seen a photo of it but of course I can’t tell you what’s in it, yet 😉 The only thing I can actually tell you is that the colour scheme is perfect for spring!
And here is a picture of the DT announcement where you can see all the other talented girls that I’m on the team with.
The Creative Retreat kits are embellishment kits (so no paper – but that’s okay, I have plenty of that 😀 ) for traditional and pocket style scrapbooking. They always include some pieces from current collections, an exclusive clear stamp set and some exclusive die cuts and/or stickers that coordinate with the rest of the kit – so you get a nice mix of products.
Hey! 🙂 I just wanted to let y’all know that today I’m over on the Gossamer Blue blog sharing an idea for what you can do when you feel uninspired, stuck or in a rut in your scrapbooking.
When I received my March kits, I felt exactly that. So I thought about what I could do to get out of that rut and actually start creating again, and then I wrote a blogpost about it to maybe help some of you out there that might be in the same situation! If you would like to see how and what I chose as my basis and what the final result looks like, hop on over here – I’d love to know what you think about it. If you have ever scraplifted someone and maybe even yourself, too.
Hey there! 🙂 As you might have seen on Instagram yesterday, the Gossamer Blue design team had a little Instagram Hop going to show you lots of different projects that were made with the pretty Gossamer Blue March kits. (If you haven’t, you can start with my photo and then just click on the person that I’ve tagged in the photo, from there you’ll hop to the person they tagged and so on. Until you end up at my photo again 🙂 )
I shared a little sneak of three of the five cards that I’ve made with the kits in the IG hop and today I want to show you the whole set of five:
I kept the cards quite simple (as I usually do) and used only papers from the 6×6″ Pink Paislee C’est La Vie paper pad. I absolutely love the soft, romantic and a bit (okay, maybe a lot) girly colour scheme – and those patterns are divine!
I paired the papers with some embellishments from the same collection but also mixed in some My Mind’s Eye “On Trend 2” and Crate Paper “Bloom” (the rubber sticker) embellishments. I think they work absolutely perfectly with the Pink Paislee papers! Those golden acrylic mirrored shapes from the On Trend 2 collection might be my absolute favourite thing about those cards!! Oh, and the fact that my Heidi Swapp Color Shine sprays coordinate SO well with the cards. I mean, look at those colours – I’m having all the heart eyes for this colour scheme.
I really can’t decide which of the cards is my favourite because I really like how they all look together as a set. So right now I’m still thinking about giving the whole set as a gift to someone so they could use them. I think it would be a pretty gift if I made a little box for them that goes with the colour scheme and style of the cards.. So we’ll see.
Have you ever gifted cards that you’ve made (in a set or as single cards) to someone for them to give them away, or also got some as a gift – did you like them? I’m still not sure if it’s something someone really would appreciate.
I’ve already shown quite a few sneaks and also full projects that I’ve made with the Scrapbook Werkstatt March kits on Instagram but nevertheless I wanted to share them all here in one place so you can ooh and aah at all the pretty pieces that are included in the kit “Glitzerblume” (glitter flower – which fits the kit very well since it is full of florals and lots of gold & glitter!!). However, because I’ve made quite a lot of projects with this kit, I’m going to split them into to blog posts. Today I will share my three top favourite ones!
Although the weather around here is still really cold and feels more like winter than spring, working with the kit put me in the mood for spring! The papers and embellishments are all really fresh and have a light and airy feel to them. And with all of the florals in the kit it is impossible not to get spring fever 😉
This first layout definitely was the easiest and quickest one that I’ve made with the kit BUT it is also my most favourite of them all! It’s the first time that I’ve tried a big (or rather huge) photo layout and I must say, I love it! You just don’t have to add much more to the page to make it special. That’s why I only added the title, some stamped phrases (made with stamps from a Gossamer Blue stamp set) enamel dots and the fringed paper strips.
For the ombré fringe I used the Moments paper from Maggie Holmes’ “Bloom” collection (Crate Paper). I started at the bottom of the paper and cut off four strips of paper. Then I cut into those strips from the bottom, but I didn’t cut completely through them – only so much that I could pull up the small strips to create the fringe.
To finish it off the LO I just added this beautiful big “create” glitter die cut word from this Pebbles Inc. package. Yes, there are six different gorgeous glitter words in that one package and I have already used most of them 😀 Like on this next layout:
For this layout I used almost no patterned paper, except for the border at the top of the page. I wanted those beautiful flower die cuts from the Bloom ephemera package to be the center of the page so I only added the glitter word and that pretty gold glitter tag. Beneath the glitter tag I layered a second one where I could add some journaling.
And last but not least the third layout in my top three favourite ones for the Scrapbook Werkstatt March kit. And this one features lots of elements from the first two layouts: a fringe border, lots of florals and some gold glitter, because you can never have enough of that! 🙂
I must admit that the floral pattern on this page might be my favourite floral patterned paper ever!! Unfortunately (for me), it’s not a whole sheet of paper but only a small card on this Fresh patterned paper from the Bloom collection. So, Crate Paper: could you make this pattern into a whole sheet, pretty please?? I will buy lots of it, I promise! 😀
Alright, so that’s it for the first batch of layouts made with the SBW March kit. I have to say that I am really happy about each one of them – they turned out exactly like I imagined, maybe even better!
I’m curious though: which of those three is your favourite layout, and why? 🙂
And, because I can’t pass up a good floral pattern: which is/are your favourite floral patterned paper/s?
Have a great week y’all! I will share the rest of my projects with the SBW March kit later this week.
(This post should have gone live yesterday already but for some reason it didn’t and since I’ve spent the whole day at the PaperWorld/CreativeWorld exhibition in Frankfurt, I couldn’t get it up until now)
How can it be February already?! I mean, where has January gone?
I’m not too sad that it is February already though. I mean, it’s the month of S. and my birthday, we get to travel to Barcelona again (finally!!!) and it marks the beginning of a new stage of my life!! As you might know, I’ve been doing my teacher training to get my Second State Examination (2. Staatsexamen) and on January 31st I finally finished it!
You might think that I’ll now be working as a “normal” teacher and you are absolutely… WRONG! Without going into too much detail and summing it up quickly: I and therefore also my dreams/goals/expectations for what I want my life to look like have changed and now I don’t want to work as a teacher anymore. It didn’t have anything to do with the students or that I didn’t enjoy teaching them, I really liked my classes (Hey there if anyone of you is reading 😉 ) and it was also a bit of a sad goodbye, it’s just that things have changed and I want to go a different path now.
Wow.. the Gossamer Blue February kit reveal just got really serious 😀
(I will write a bit more about my dreams, goals and plans for the next year(s) in a week-ish here. I will take some time on my birthday to reflect on all of that because in the past almost two years I didn’t really have time for any of that)
But now on to something else: the Gossamer Blue February kits!
Today I’ll just show you two layouts I’ve made with them. I also started doing Project Life (again..) and this time I feel that I’ve finally found the right format for me which makes me quite excited!! Especially because now I’ll have a good use for all of the pretty Life Pages cards from my Gossamer Blue kits – and this month’s might just be my favourite EVER! It’s the first month that I liked the Life Pages kit and add-ons even more that the Scrapbooking kit!
But I haven’t had time to print my photos for January yet, so I’ll make sure to show you my LP pages once they are complete 🙂
There isn’t much to tell about the photo/layout above. I took the photo in a really pretty store in Berlin and just really liked it so I had to scrap it 😉
And here’s the second one, about one of my favourite things in the world:
I was a bit impatient with doing the stitching on this LO so the mist (Heidi Swapp Color Shine – black) hadn’t fully dried.. But oh well, I guess there are worse things in life than a few paint smudges on a LO 😉
Today the world’s biggest trade fair for the creative sector [that’s at least what their website claims] opens its doors in Frankfurt am Main and I will be there from today until Monday. The lovely Kimberly from HeroArts invited me to do a Make & Take at their booth to show what you can create with their pretty products and I couldn’t be more excited!!
To prepare the Make & Take, I already received some of their beautiful new stamps (and dies!) before and if you look closely, you can see the HeroArts products pile on my desk below.
So, if you should be at the CreativeWorld in Frankfurt on Saturday, Sunday and/or Monday, be sure to stop by the HeroArts booth at 4.2 E46 (Hall 4, 2nd floor, booth E46 – we are in the USA Pavillon) to say hi and craft with me 🙂
I really hope I can meet some of you in person there!!
