Get Messy

    Art Journal, Life

    One Year ago…

..S. asked THE question. I can’t believe it’s been one year already since we’ve had this completely wonderful day together in our most favourite city in the world.

((this photo was not taken on the day of our engagement but later that year – I actually don’t have a photo of us two on THAT day) – well, I do now!)

I’m sure almost everyone says that about his engagement, but the whole day was magical and I wouldn’t want to change a thing about it! S. had everything planned and I just had to follow and enjoy the day, which was a nice change from our usual travel routine where I’m mostly the planner and lead the way ūüėČ This time though, we agreed already before our trip to Barcelona that he would plan at least one day. And boy did he plan!
But that’s a story for another day. For tomorrow, to be exact. That’s when I will share our engagement story with you and also some pictures that I snapped throughout the day.

Today I just wanted to say that I am thankful to have someone like him by my side wherever I go and whatever I do. He always supports me, keeps up with me even on my not so good days and always has my back.

This Get Messy page sums it up pretty well:

We laugh together / We smile together / We travel together / We explore together / We dream together / We hope together / We suffer together / We walk together / We talk together / We love together / We hurt together / We drink together / We go places together / We relax together / We celebrate together / We plan together / We drink coffee together / We watch movies together / We run errands together / We sleep together / We learn together / We ride together / We fight together / We try together / …
    WE ARE NEVER ALONE.

For some it might be too much to spend so much time with the other one, but for us it works.

    Get Messy. [No. 14]

Woohoo, it’s time for a monthly prompt page again!! I have to say, I absolutely loved the prompt Andrea came up with!

Journaling challenge: Pick one word that describes you right now. Just one word.

Art challenge: Play with the word you picked. Use letter stickers, cut out your word from magazines and create a collage, write your word a hundred times on a piece of paper and use it as a background, use paint to write your word, … The main focus should be on your word.

In the beginning, I couldn’t really decide on a word and I always had to think about “Searching”, “Insecure” and so on because I am not really satisfied with where I am right now in my life. Both geographically and also figuratively..

But those words were too negative for me. I didn’t want to have such a negative view on my current situation. So I continued my search for the word. And one day, when I entered our living room and had a look at our little “gallery wall”, there it was: “The future belongs to those wo dream.” – perfect, I had my word! “Dreamer” it should be, because this is what describes me best right now. I’m constantly dreaming about our plans for the future and especially where they will take us and it always gets me very excited and (most of the time) also makes me quite happy, because for a moment I can forget the rest around us.

I chose to keep the pages quite simple and minimal and they even fit the style and colour scheme of our gallery wall, which was not intended but I think is just awesome! ūüôā

I decided to stamp my word with LoraBailora’s alphabet stamps in black ink on the left side. When I was done, I thought the right side needed some stamping as well, but I didn’t want to make it the same as the left one.
Then i thought I could just switch it around an have some white words on black background. For that I coloured the background with my black ink pad, let it dry, then stamped the word onto it with my Versamark watermark stamp pad and put white embossing powder on top.

If you’ve been following my blog or IG account for more than about two weeks you will know that I not only love black and white, but also anything metallic, especially copper. So of course that had to go on my page as well ūüôā

And now I’m excited to see which word all the other talented ladies in our Get Messy group chose to describe themselves and how they turned it into an art journal page!

    Get Messy. [No. 13]

This week I can only show you one page for the Get Messy challenge.

Do you know this saying: “When it rains, it pours”? That’s how I felt the past week or two.. There was always something new adding to the already exisiting problems or annoyances and it didn’t seem to stop. So when I created this page, this saying seemed to fit perfectly.

And as I said, new things kept coming up, so I got sick and wasn’t able to do much except photograph and post this one page.. >.<

Anyways, next week I hope I’ll be back with more (and more exciting) new pages.. But you should check out what the other ladies created this week!
Until then, have a nice week!

Time to get messy, people! ūüôā

For this week’s pages I tried something new again. This time I used some pictures from magazines that I had cut out some time ago and just added some alpha stickers and black washi and that’s almost it.

Since my time at work (which is in school) is relatively loud, noisy and sometimes hectic, I found myself really enjoying the silence when I created this page!

I think this picture was actually an advert for a Calvin Klein product or something like this, can’t remember. Anyway, I liked the picture and just glued it onto my journal page. Just recently I reorganised my office / craftroom once again, so when I made these pages there were still stacks of paper and just random things all over the room. When I saw this little passe-partout/matte from a photo frame peeking out from one of those stacks, I thought “Why not use it for my Get Messy album?” ..and I knew I would never use it anyway if not now.¬†
So I added it to this page and I think it fits perfectly!

Simple messages this week, but very important for me at the moment!
Hope y’all have a nice week!

First of all: Thanks a lot for all your nice words about my last Get Messy pages!! Although they are quite different from the ones before and I wasn’t entirely convinced, I like them more and more everytime I look at them! ūüôā

And secondly, I apologise for being a bit late with posting my Get Messy pages this week, but the past few days have just gone by in a whirl. On Saturday we had our Design Team meet-up at the Scrapbook Werkstatt (which was SO much fun! You will see why in a few weeks time! ūüôā ) and on Sunday I had to plan the next few of my lessons, because the autumn holidays had ended on Sunday (boohoo).¬†
I also got a few new goodies from the Scrapbook Werkstatt (because of course we all took the chance to be there and did some shopping ūüėČ ) but I didn’t even have time to unpack and admire those things!

Today was the first “visit” of my instructors at school. It’s basically like a normal lesson, only that a few more people are sitting in your room, taking notes and evaluating your lesson/teaching style/personality etc. And afterwards you discuss your own feelings/ideas etc. about your lesson and their comments/tips etc. for you. And as you can imagine, it’s a lot of work and quite exhausting. But I did it! ūüôā And I will reward myself with some time for scrapbooking and a trip to IKEA later on ūüôā

So, anyways, here are this week’s pages. Really simple because I couldn’t dedicate much time to them, but to me very meaningful nonetheless!

Aren’t those Freckled Fawn doilies just the cutest?? I love all the different colours that they are available in and they are actually the only thing I unpacked from my little haul from Sunday.

I found this quote on Pinterest and liked the way it was written/illustrated, so I used this for my Get Messy pages and just added a photo of me.

And now it’s time to relax a bit, before I have to start to prepare my lessons for tomorrow…

    Get Messy. [No. 10]

This week’s Get Messy pages are made for the monthly prompt. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to create those pages, which I think is a bit sad, as I really really liked the prompt and think it’s quite important to document it.. You will also see that those pages aren’t really the same style as all my others before, but hey, you got to try something every once in a while.

But first, here are the prompts:
Journaling Challenge: Gratitude. What are you grateful for? What aspects of your life are you thankful for, that you might be overlooking while being busy?

Art Challenge: Use visual examples for at least three things you’re grateful for. Photos/doodles/magazine cut outs/stickers/anything. SHOW us your gratitude!

(Sorry for the bad quality of the photos, but the light here is so gloomy.. I will change them once the light is good enough to take a decent photo)

I liked this prompt because it got me thinking about all the small things that I am grateful for. You know, the things you might forgot when you are in your everyday trot and only start to notice everything that is going wrong or not as planned.. it’s easy to get caught up in that all, so I think it’s important sometimes to stop and look around what makes your life wonderful and what makes you happy!

    Get Messy. [No. 9]

Oh my, how can it be Thursday already again?? Last week at this time I was still in Berlin with a whole class of students and now almost one week of my fall holidays is already over (insert shocked voice here)!

This weeks pages aren’t all too meaningful. I just dusted off my Silhouette Cameo again and cut out these pretty bits which I just had too use in my Get Messy journal!

I guess it’s pretty obvious why I chose to colour the “happy” yellow. Yellow just is the happiest colour on earth, so there was no question about what to use here. And because I think yellow looks especially good on a green/blue/aqua background, I chose those colours.

This one is just absolutely pretty – I love (!) this cutfile (and sorry for the overuse of “love” ūüėČ ). To make it pop off the page I layered it onto a patterned paper that didn’t have too much pattern in it, actually none, just a gorgeous coral colour and watercolour look.

So that’s it from me today. Now go check out the other creative ladies!

    Get Messy. [No. 8]

This week’s Get Messy pages might just be my favourite ones so far! They have glitter, lots of white space, nice quotes and pretty photos – what’s not to love about that?

I didn’t have a final vision of the pages, rather they are a good example for a case where everything just seems to fall into place.

I started the first page by putting some structure paste on a star mask from Studio Calico. When it had dried, I added the two strips of crêpe paper and then found this photo of my favourite kind of flowers (peonies) and just put it onto the crêpe paper. This quote was flowing around somewhere in the back of my mind, so I searched my Pinterest board for the exact words, wrote it in Word (font is American Typewriter), printed it and cut out the strips. Then I thought the page was finished, but a few hours later, when I was looking at it again, I thought it could use some glitter (because, why not??) and added this strip of golden glitter tape. The moment I put it down on the page I knew it was just perfect РI love this page!

For the second page I used almost the same “recipe” – just minus the cr√™pe paper. This page is a reminder for me and my biggest dream that I am constantly thinking about, spending many hours each day daydreaming, making plans and really wishing for it to come true..

So, that’s it about my pages this week. Now you should really go check out what all the other talented ladies created! ūüôā

This week’s pages are quite simple and not all that meaningful. Just two pages that make me happy and smile ūüôā

I mean, who doesn’t like confetti and wood veneer shapes??

(Excuse the not so good quality of the photos, but the lighting here kinda stinks because it’s been raining all day long the last few days.)

..aah, confetti pockets. I’ll never get tired of you!

Well, and you pretty wood veneers, I love you just as much! (Okay, maybe even a bit more than confetti! But shh!)

Tomorrow I’ll be sharing the two cards that I’ve made with the “Second City” collection, so stay tuned ūüôā

    Get Messy. [No. 6]

Okay, because I don’t want to sound like a broken record, I won’t say anything about how quickly time has passed and how I haven’t managed to get another post up on the blog in between last week’s and this week’s Get Messy post. Instead, I will just show you this week’s two pages of my Get Messy art journal.

Compared to the pages from last week, these are brighter, lighter and more upbeat, although I made them immediately after the three pages from last week – which seem rather serious and maybe even a little sad or at least pensive. But it seems that I just had to get off my chest what I journaled on these pages to be able to create something more cheerful again!

So, here are my two pages:

This one is quite simple and came together in about 2 minutes. First I saw this quote on Pinterest, while browsing my “Word”-board, where I like to collect beautiful/thought-provoking/witty/honest/.. quotes. And then I found those cute stickers that looked just like confetti in my stash. Perfect match!

For this page I knew I wanted to use this pretty washi tape (that was in one of the Studio Calico kits that I purchased on the Black Friday sale, yayy!), which matched perfectly with some labels I had lying around.
And because I love making lists, a list about the things (or persons) I love seemed like the right thing to do!

That’s it from me today. Go and check out all the other talented ladies in the Get Messy gang! ūüôā
