Mix & Match it Up with Crate Paper’s Gather Collection [Vacation Edition].

After a bit of a scrapbooking hiatus, I finally felt inspired and sat down to make some layouts again two weeks ago. And I have to be honest: I’m really, really happy with the results 🙂

Working with the gorgeous Gather collection by Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper and some bits and pieces from other recent collections made it a lot easier. I really like the soft colours and the patterns in this collection and I have almost used up all of the papers I have of it, so I think that really is a success! While until not too long ago I still had some things in my stash that I used to hoard, waiting for the “right” project to come along to use them on, I have finally overcome this thinking and just use what I have and love!

But I don’t want to talk too much since this post will be quite picture-heavy. So without further ado, here are (some of) the projects that I made recently. I would love to hear how you like them!

(I’ve also divided it up into several posts because there are just too many to share in one go – so I call this one the “vacation edition” 🙂 and looking at all of these summer-y layouts, makes me really wish it was warmer outside!)

BCN by ScatteredConfetti BCN by ScatteredConfetti

Of course this first layout is one of my favourites – it includes a photo of one of my absolute favourite corners in my favourite city in the whole wide world + lots of white space + florals + black and white patterned paper + gold details. Not sure how I could now love that 😀 For the title I just cut up this patterned paper from the Gather collection by Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper <3

    Products used:

    Crate Paper – Gather – 12 x 12 Paper Pad
    Crate Paper – Gather – 12 x 12 Double Sided Paper – Happy Place
    Crate Paper – Gather – 12 x 12 Double Sided Paper – Jane
Heidi Swapp – Color Shine – Black Velvet
Heidi Swapp – Color Shine – Coral
Stampers Anonymous – Tim Holtz – Layering Stencil – Speckles

    Adventure by ScatteredConfetti

This second layout is a perfect example (in my opinion) for how mixing and matching different collections (even from different brands) can work out perfectly! The papers are from the Gather collection, the wood veneer pieces from the Gossamer Blue October kits, the white thickers word from American Crafts/Amy Tangerine’s “Oh Happy Life”, the floral and chipboard stickers from Dear Lizzy’s “Saturday” and the golden rub-ons from the Pebbles/Jen Hadfield’s “Warm & Cozy” collection. Each collection taken on its own has a very different look and feel to it than the others, but single bits of them combined can work together beautifully!

    Products used:

Heidi Swapp – Color Shine – Citron
    Crate Paper – Gather – 12 x 12 Paper Pad
American Crafts – Oh Happy Life Collection – Thickers – Alpha – Wild – White
American Crafts – Saturday Collection – Thickers – Hello – Multicolor
American Crafts – Go Now Go Collection – Wooden Buttons
Pebbles – Warm and Cozy Collection – Rub Ons with Foil Accents

The next two layouts are also an example of mixing and matching collections (actually the same ones as I’ve just mentioned + Shimelle’s “Go Now Go”):

Beautiful by ScatteredConfetti Beautiful by ScatteredConfetti Adventure by ScatteredConfetti

    Products used:

    Crate Paper – Gather – 12 x 12 Paper Pad
American Crafts – Go Now Go Collection – 12 x 12 Double Sided Paper – Fly
American Crafts – Saturday Collection – Thickers – Hello – Multicolor
American Crafts – Oh Happy Life Collection – Cardstock Stickers – Accent and Phrases
American Crafts – Go Now Go Collection – Wooden Buttons
Stampers Anonymous – Tim Holtz – Layering Stencil – Traveler
Ranger Ink – Dina Wakley Media – Gesso – Clear – 4 Ounce Jar
Heidi Swapp – Color Shine – Citron
Heidi Swapp – Color Shine – Coral

On the first and last layout I also tried to incorporate some mixed media elements (okay, just one – gesso) and I’m really liking the look of it. I really want to do more of that on my future projects!

Alright, that’s it for today! I hope you like the layouts and maybe feel inspired to mix and match some of the collections in your stash!

    Have a nice weekend! 🙂

Trying Something Different with the [Gossamer Blue October Kits].

Hey there 🙂 Today is the first of October and this means today is also reveal day over at Gossamer Blue!! The October kits are filled with pretty products, lots of florals and gorgeous colours. I especially love all of the pieces from the Crate Paper “Gather” collection (by Maggie Holmes) in there!

To be honest, when I unpacked my kits, I wasn’t all too excited about the pieces from the new Amy Tangerine “Oh Happy Life” collection, however. It’s not that this collection isn’t good, it’s just that it’s not very “me”. The colours are a bit too bright and bold for my taste and I’m not very into the colour combos and the patterns. So I was a bit hesitant about using those papers and embellishments and first stuck to all the pretty things from the “Gather” collection 😀

Although when I was finished with my projects for the October kits (9 layouts and 1 gift set with two boxes, a card and an envelope. let me repeat, NINE layouts! I haven’t done this many with one kit in a very long time, so this shows that the kits are really good!) and looked through them again, I realised that actually half of the layouts were made almost entirely with stuff from the Amy Tangerine line!! And the interesting thing is that they still feel “me”. Maybe not as much as the other ones (I mean I’m still not really convinced by one or two of them) but I still managed to make something with it that I do like. And it pushed me to try out something different. Nothing revolutionary or super exciting, just little things like using clear stickers layered beneath my patterned paper or a new (for me) colour combo like green + yellow..

    Home. Home.

I’m always really inspired by Suse Fish (one of my all-time favourite scrappers. everything she touches is just pure gorgeousness #fangirl). I love when she incorporates some mixed media touches into her layouts and they still feel really soft and light, like this one here. So I wanted to try my hand at making a layout like this, too.. well, the result is the above layout. I’m still not really sure what to think about it. I’m a bit torn. I like the texture but I’m not convinced of the yellow watercolour.. but maybe it’s just because there are quite a lot of “non-me” elements, like the colour combo.. I don’t know. What do you think?

Although the colour combo itself really does work when I look at this layout:

    Moments. Moments.

I’m a bit in love with this cute little dear epoxy sticker <3 and that leaf wood veneer piece!

Anyways, I’ll stop rambling now and just show you the rest of my layouts so you can make up your own mind about how much “me” they feel to you 😉

    Beautiful Day.

I’m really really happy that I finally have some new photos I can use for my layouts and even more so that quite a lot of them are actually good photos of me! S. really has stepped up his photography game (after enough whining and complaining from my side 😀 )

The one I used on the layout below is one of my absolute favourite photos he took. It’s not posed, just a genuine shot (and my hair looks good, haha).

    Remember.

And here’s the last layout of the “trying something different” group 😉  ..I’m still not too sure about this layout. However, when I flipped through my album to show S. the layouts I made with the kits, he said that this was one of his favourites. So yeah, I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder 😉

    Sweet Things. Sweet Things.

I’d love to know what you think about these layouts and which one is your favourite. I’d say mine is the second one, but probably because it feels most typically me.

I’ll show you more of my projects in the next few days (and I’m almost certain that I will make even more with these kits. Maybe until I have nothing left but scraps 😉 ) and I am really excited about those that I haven’t shown you yet 😉

Have a great weekend, guys! 🙂

Interrupting the Silence for Some Gossamer Blue [September kits] projects.

Chirp, chirp, chirp… yeah, sorry. That’s the only thing that you could “hear” around here in the past few weeks.. Things just got a bit too much. While almost everyone at work was on vacation somewhere nice, I stayed where I was and held the line 😉

But now things are finally getting back to normal and I’m about to head out to the Costa Brava for a week with S. to relax and regenerate a bit. But before I leave, I want to show you some of the projects that I’ve made with the super pretty (and jam-packed) Gossamer Blue September kits.

The kits contain a lot of Crate Paper’s “Cute Girl” collection, the We R Memory Keepers “Urban Chic” line and “Take Me Away” by Paige Evans for Pink Paislee. Especially the Scrapbooking kits and add-ons have a very girly, cutesy vibe – which I like but which made it a little difficult for me to make some projects since I don’t have any kids and the colours/patterns don’t fit most of my photos too well.

    Enzo Layout - ScatteredConfetti

This one of Enzo, a friend’s golden retriever that I dog-sitted for almost two weeks in July, was perfect for the papers since the photo contains some pink as well. I’m really happy with how the layout turned out although I couldn’t add any sewing machine stitching because it broke down on me while I was working on these projects ..Buh!!

    Enzo Layout - ScatteredConfetti

This next layout was made with the Life Pages main kit which has more fall-ish colours and I am absolutely in love with them!

Everyday Layout - ScatteredConfettiEveryday Layout - ScatteredConfetti
Instead of patterned paper I used two of the Life Pages cards behind the photo. Because I didn’t want to mess up the clean and simple look of the page (and because I don’t like my handwriting), I added some journaling on one of the cards and tucked it behind the photo and the other card.

Everyday Layout - ScatteredConfettiEveryday Layout - ScatteredConfetti

So that’s it for now. I have quite a few more projects to share with you and I’m quite excited about them because they are “different” from my other projects and you will see why 😉

Psst, if you follow me on Instagram, you might be able to guess what the difference could be 😉

Three Very Different Layouts with the [Gossamer Blue] June Kits.

Hey there 🙂 It’s the first of June (WHAT?!) and that means today is reveal day over at Gossamer Blue. And let me tell you this: the June kits are really fun! I loved playing with them because they are full of bright, cheerful colours and patterns that make you excited for summer to come!

So, here are just a few of the projects I’ve made with them 🙂 The following three layouts are actually quite different from each other (at least in my mind 😉 )

This first one is my favourite of all three:

Favourite Café Layout by ScatteredConfetti. For this layout I handcut the flowers from this patterned paper by Simple Stories and I really love how it turned out! I’m actually quite proud of myself for finishing it (eventhough it’s not that big of a piece of paper) because when it comes to tedious things like that, I’m really not the most patient person on earth 😉

To make the flowers really pop, I didn’t add any other patterned paper. Just some embellishments here and there and a tag behind the photo with some hidden journaling.

    Favourite Café Layout by ScatteredConfetti.

This second layout is a bit of the opposite of the first one because this didn’t really turn out the way I had envisioned it.. I pushed those little squares around for what seemed like an eternity but was never really happy with it. Until I decided to just finally glue them down and finish it.. Maybe it will grow on me, who knows 😉

    Good Life Layout by ScatteredConfetti.

fw gggGood Life Layout by ScatteredConfetti.

This last layout might look familiar to you because I’ve already made two that are quite similar (here and here). In the Life Pages Main Kit there is always a card with the name of the month on it and I like to use that together with some others to make a layout to document that month. Of course the journaling is still missing because I don’t know (everything) that is going to happen in June, yet 😉

    June Layout by ScatteredConfetti.

I also used lots of the stamps from the Life Pages Main Kit on that layout. I stamped, heat embossed (with white embossing powder) and then handcut the “Hello” phrase and also added some stamping on the lower right journaling card. They just fit perfectly 🙂

    June Layout by ScatteredConfetti.

What I especially like about this last layout is the colour scheme. I don’t often use navy blue in my projects and definitely not together with yellow and light pink but I’ve got to admit: they look great together! What do you think?

I’d love to know which of these layouts you like the most! My favourite is definitely the first one 🙂

Three Fresh Cards with [Gossamer Blue May Kits].

Woohoo, it’s that time again: reveal day at Gossamer Blue and let me tell you, the May kits are gorgeous! I looove all those fresh and bright colours. Here are some of my favourite bits from this month’s kits:

    Gossamer Blue May Favourites

I mean, look at those acrylic shapes! I am a sucker for acrylic shapes and these might be some of my all-time favourites, mostly because of the colours. Bright but kinda pastel-ish. And I know I say that almost every month, but the life pages cards are awesome! Apart from the vibrant colours (that are totally awesome), the words and phrases on them are geat. There is an “ughhh” one, another that says “oh sh*t” and more of that kind. It’s a nice change from the normale “best ever” kinda products in the scrapbooking world. Oh, and can we talk about that stamp set (especially the cactus) and those wood veneer pieces for a second? I mean, what’s not to love about those?

I didn’t get to play much with the kits (yet) because they arrived quite late this time and this weekend we moved to a new apartment (in another city) and I’ve been preparing this move for the past two weeks… So right now almost everything is still in boxes (except for some of my scrapbooking things – priorities, y’all! 😀 ) and it’s still quite chaotic. That’s also the reason for those not very good photos of my first project with the kits. When I finally had some time (and space) to photograph it, the lighting was already rather poor. But anyways, you gotta work with what you have, right?

    Cards by ScatteredConfettiCards by ScatteredConfetti

I will try to get some better photos as soon as I can and also show you some more projects with those pretty May kits! In the meantime, you can check out all the goodness here. 🙂

Finding Inspiration & Getting Un-Stuck [Scraplift Yourself].

Hey! 🙂 I just wanted to let y’all know that today I’m over on the Gossamer Blue blog sharing an idea for what you can do when you feel uninspired, stuck or in a rut in your scrapbooking.

When I received my March kits, I felt exactly that. So I thought about what I could do to get out of that rut and actually start creating again, and then I wrote a blogpost about it to maybe help some of you out there that might be in the same situation! If you would like to see how and what I chose as my basis and what the final result looks like, hop on over here – I’d love to know what you think about it. If you have ever scraplifted someone and maybe even yourself, too.

[Gossamer Blue] March Kits Instagram Hop – A Set of Romantic Cards.

Hey there! 🙂 As you might have seen on Instagram yesterday, the Gossamer Blue design team had a little Instagram Hop going to show you lots of different projects that were made with the pretty Gossamer Blue March kits. (If you haven’t, you can start with my photo and then just click on the person that I’ve tagged in the photo, from there you’ll hop to the person they tagged and so on. Until you end up at my photo again 🙂 )

I shared a little sneak of three of the five cards that I’ve made with the kits in the IG hop and today I want to show you the whole set of five:

    Cards by ScatteredConfettiCards by ScatteredConfetti

I kept the cards quite simple (as I usually do) and used only papers from the 6×6″ Pink Paislee C’est La Vie paper pad. I absolutely love the soft, romantic and a bit (okay, maybe a lot) girly colour scheme – and those patterns are divine!

I paired the papers with some embellishments from the same collection but also mixed in some My Mind’s Eye “On Trend 2” and Crate Paper “Bloom” (the rubber sticker) embellishments. I think they work absolutely perfectly with the Pink Paislee papers! Those golden acrylic mirrored shapes from the On Trend 2 collection might be my absolute favourite thing about those cards!! Oh, and the fact that my Heidi Swapp Color Shine sprays coordinate SO well with the cards. I mean, look at those colours – I’m having all the heart eyes for this colour scheme.

    Cards by ScatteredConfettiCards by ScatteredConfetti

I really can’t decide which of the cards is my favourite because I really like how they all look together as a set. So right now I’m still thinking about giving the whole set as a gift to someone so they could use them. I think it would be a pretty gift if I made a little box for them that goes with the colour scheme and style of the cards.. So we’ll see.

Have you ever gifted cards that you’ve made (in a set or as single cards) to someone for them to give them away, or also got some as a gift – did you like them? I’m still not sure if it’s something someone really would appreciate.

Fresh & Clean Layouts with the [Gossamer Blue] February Kits.

(This post should have gone live yesterday already but for some reason it didn’t and since I’ve spent the whole day at the PaperWorld/CreativeWorld exhibition in Frankfurt, I couldn’t get it up until now)

How can it be February already?! I mean, where has January gone?

I’m not too sad that it is February already though. I mean, it’s the month of S. and my birthday, we get to travel to Barcelona again (finally!!!) and it marks the beginning of a new stage of my life!! As you might know, I’ve been doing my teacher training to get my Second State Examination (2. Staatsexamen) and on January 31st I finally finished it!

You might think that I’ll now be working as a “normal” teacher and you are absolutely… WRONG! Without going into too much detail and summing it up quickly: I and therefore also my dreams/goals/expectations for what I want my life to look like have changed and now I don’t want to work as a teacher anymore. It didn’t have anything to do with the students or that I didn’t enjoy teaching them, I really liked my classes (Hey there if anyone of you is reading 😉 ) and it was also a bit of a sad goodbye, it’s just that things have changed and I want to go a different path now.

Wow.. the Gossamer Blue February kit reveal just got really serious 😀

(I will write a bit more about my dreams, goals and plans for the next year(s) in a week-ish here. I will take some time on my birthday to reflect on all of that because in the past almost two years I didn’t really have time for any of that)

But now on to something else: the Gossamer Blue February kits!

Today I’ll just show you two layouts I’ve made with them. I also started doing Project Life (again..) and this time I feel that I’ve finally found the right format for me which makes me quite excited!! Especially because now I’ll have a good use for all of the pretty Life Pages cards from my Gossamer Blue kits – and this month’s might just be my favourite EVER! It’s the first month that I liked the Life Pages kit and add-ons even more that the Scrapbooking kit!

But I haven’t had time to print my photos for January yet, so I’ll make sure to show you my LP pages once they are complete 🙂

    Fancy by ScatteredConfetti.

    Fancy by ScatteredConfetti.

There isn’t much to tell about the photo/layout above. I took the photo in a really pretty store in Berlin and just really liked it so I had to scrap it 😉

And here’s the second one, about one of my favourite things in the world:

    Coffee Everyday by ScatteredConfetti.

I was a bit impatient with doing the stitching on this LO so the mist (Heidi Swapp Color Shine – black) hadn’t fully dried.. But oh well, I guess there are worse things in life than a few paint smudges on a LO 😉

Hello Love: Three Easy-Peasy Cards with the [Gossamer Blue January Kits].

Just stopping by real quick to share three easy-peasy cards with you that I’ve made with the Gossamer Blue January kits – and you know what’s great about them? They are perfect for Valentine’s Day, too!

For the first one I just used different strips from the Heidi Swapp Washi Booklet that was in the January Main Add-On Kit, adhered them to the card and then just embellished it with two of those adorable golden hearts from the Crate Paper “Hello Love” collection and some Heidi Swapp stickers.

    Hello Love Cards by ScatteredConfetti

For the other two I decided to stick to the same “recipe”: I chose one black and white patterned paper and cut it down to fit the card. Then I splattered some Heidi Swapp Color Shine mist over them (Primrose and Cherry on the left and Gold Lamé on the right), added a sentiment (from the Seven Paper “Goldie” collection), some glitter heart stickers and one “special” item.

On the left one I glued down the black and white baker’s twine from the Scrapbook Main kit writing “love”. For that I first wrote out the word with some liquid glue and then started putting down the twine from left to right. For the right card I used the geometric wood veneer heart (also from the Crate Paper “Hello Love” collection), backed it with different pieces of patterned paper and then glued it to the card, too.

    Hello Love Cards by ScatteredConfetti

Each of the cards took me about five to ten minutes maximum – I love me some easy cards! 🙂 (You can see more easy-peasy card ideas here, here, here, here and here).

What about you, do you like quick and easy or more intricate and embellished cards? Feel free to leave me a link to some of your cards, I’d love to see! 🙂

[Gossamer Blue Blog Hop] January. A Very Special Gift with Crate Paper’s “Hello Love”.

    GossamerBlue%20Inspiration%20Bloghop_zpscrokfg3u.jpg

Hey there! 🙂 It’s that time of the month again, when the Gossamer Blue Design Team has a whole lot of inspiration for you and for how you can use your Gossamer Blue January kits!

I have a layout for you today for which I mostly used the January Scrapbook Main kit and the Life Pages Themed Add-On, which was my absolute favourite Add-On maybe of all times! I mean, it’s full of Crate Paper “Hello Love” goodness, so how could you not like it?!

    Gossamer Blue January Blog Hop

Anyway, the layout is about the (definitely) most special gift someone has ever given to me – my engagement ring. And what’s so special about it, is not only that it symbolises the bond between S. and me but everytime I look at it I am reminded of the whole story that lies behind this ring and our engagement. (You can read about our engagement story here – it’s quite long but there are some pictures too 😉 )

The ring was made just for me after a design that S. came up with and that he had then made by a friend/acquaintance of him who is a goldsmith. I love the ring – for me it couldn’t be any more perfect or fitting and I love the fact that no-one else in the world has the exact same ring! 🙂

Gossamer Blue Projects + A Layout with Hidden Journaling.

Happy New Year to you all!! I wish you all a great, healthy, successful and magical 2016! 🙂

Because of the Christmas holidays my Gossamer Blue January kits came a bit late, so I wasn’t able to scrap much with them yet. But I can already show you one layout that I’ve made with them.

Rest layout by ScatteredConfetti Rest layout by ScatteredConfetti

    WHAT?
I took this photo on the first day of my Christmas holidays (Dec, 22nd). I couldn’t wait for those holidays to begin so that I could finally relax a little bit, scrap, go on coffee dates and do all the fun things. But of course on my first day of holidays I woke up feeling sick.. so opposite to what I had planned for that day, I mostly stayed in bed and let myself rest.

    HOW?
For this layout I used different papers from the Seven Paper “Goldie” collection (I love it!!) that were included in the Scrapbook Main kit, the Main Add-On and the Add-On #2. I think paper-wise the January kits are the best ones so far!! So much “Goldie” and “Hello Love” goodness!
Anyways. I handcut several squares from the papers, all about the same size. I didn’t measure them because I wanted them to be different and not all exactly square. Then I first adhered them with my glue runner and after that stitched over them with my sewing machine.
Beneath the paper square that is adhered with a strip of washi tape I added some hidden journaling that I didn’t want to be seen directly.
(I normally don’t “censor” my layouts that I post here, but this time it’s a bit too personal..)
