    [Pinkfresh Studio] Design Team Line Up & Escape the Ordinary Blog Hop.

    Woohoo, welcome to my stop on the Pinkfresh Studio Design Team Line Up & “Escape the Ordinary” blog hop! I’m very excited to be part of this amazing line up of super talented ladies! A huge thank you to Kinnari for having me 🙂

    If you don’t know me or are new to this page, welcome! And if you want to get to know me a bit better, have a look here.

    When I received my DT package (and was done with oohing and aahing over all the pretty things inside 😀 ), I immediately started playing with the Escape the Ordinary collection. And before I knew it, I had already three finished layouts with it. So it was difficult to decide which one to show you first on this blog hop.

    Eventually I chose this one (which was actually the last of the three that I made) because I thought that it might show you a slightly different colour scheme than some of the other scrapbooking projects you will have seen on the hop, so you would get an idea about how versatile the Escape the Ordinary collection is 🙂

    I left out all the blues and yellows of which there are quite a few in this collection and focused on the neutrals plus green and red instead – trying to match the colours in my photo.

    I also tried my hand at some light mixed media elements (okay, I only used a stencil with some gesso.. I’m not brave enough for more, yet 😀 ) to add some more interest to the page.

    Because the layout was quite busy with all the papers, stamps and embellishments already (aren’t those stitched hearts just the cutest?!), I decided to add my journaling on one of the stitched tags and put it behind my photo. I’m a really big fan of tags and hidden journaling (mostly because I really don’t like my handwriting and always fear I’ll mess up my layout), so the stitched tags come in really handy for me 🙂

    The leatherette alpha stickers are just perfect for this layout. I love the font and I love that they are quite flat, so they won’t make the page too bulky but because of the leather-look, still add some interest!

    Mix & Match it Up with Crate Paper’s Gather Collection [Vacation Edition].

    After a bit of a scrapbooking hiatus, I finally felt inspired and sat down to make some layouts again two weeks ago. And I have to be honest: I’m really, really happy with the results 🙂

    Working with the gorgeous Gather collection by Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper and some bits and pieces from other recent collections made it a lot easier. I really like the soft colours and the patterns in this collection and I have almost used up all of the papers I have of it, so I think that really is a success! While until not too long ago I still had some things in my stash that I used to hoard, waiting for the “right” project to come along to use them on, I have finally overcome this thinking and just use what I have and love!

    But I don’t want to talk too much since this post will be quite picture-heavy. So without further ado, here are (some of) the projects that I made recently. I would love to hear how you like them!

    (I’ve also divided it up into several posts because there are just too many to share in one go – so I call this one the “vacation edition” 🙂 and looking at all of these summer-y layouts, makes me really wish it was warmer outside!)

    Of course this first layout is one of my favourites – it includes a photo of one of my absolute favourite corners in my favourite city in the whole wide world + lots of white space + florals + black and white patterned paper + gold details. Not sure how I could now love that 😀 For the title I just cut up this patterned paper from the Gather collection by Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper <3

    This second layout is a perfect example (in my opinion) for how mixing and matching different collections (even from different brands) can work out perfectly! The papers are from the Gather collection, the wood veneer pieces from the Gossamer Blue October kits, the white thickers word from American Crafts/Amy Tangerine’s “Oh Happy Life”, the floral and chipboard stickers from Dear Lizzy’s “Saturday” and the golden rub-ons from the Pebbles/Jen Hadfield’s “Warm & Cozy” collection. Each collection taken on its own has a very different look and feel to it than the others, but single bits of them combined can work together beautifully!

    On the first and last layout I also tried to incorporate some mixed media elements (okay, just one – gesso) and I’m really liking the look of it. I really want to do more of that on my future projects!

    Interrupting the Silence for Some Gossamer Blue [September kits] projects.

    Chirp, chirp, chirp… yeah, sorry. That’s the only thing that you could “hear” around here in the past few weeks.. Things just got a bit too much. While almost everyone at work was on vacation somewhere nice, I stayed where I was and held the line 😉

    But now things are finally getting back to normal and I’m about to head out to the Costa Brava for a week with S. to relax and regenerate a bit. But before I leave, I want to show you some of the projects that I’ve made with the super pretty (and jam-packed) Gossamer Blue September kits.

    The kits contain a lot of Crate Paper’s “Cute Girl” collection, the We R Memory Keepers “Urban Chic” line and “Take Me Away” by Paige Evans for Pink Paislee. Especially the Scrapbooking kits and add-ons have a very girly, cutesy vibe – which I like but which made it a little difficult for me to make some projects since I don’t have any kids and the colours/patterns don’t fit most of my photos too well.

    This one of Enzo, a friend’s golden retriever that I dog-sitted for almost two weeks in July, was perfect for the papers since the photo contains some pink as well. I’m really happy with how the layout turned out although I couldn’t add any sewing machine stitching because it broke down on me while I was working on these projects ..Buh!!

    This next layout was made with the Life Pages main kit which has more fall-ish colours and I am absolutely in love with them!

    Instead of patterned paper I used two of the Life Pages cards behind the photo. Because I didn’t want to mess up the clean and simple look of the page (and because I don’t like my handwriting), I added some journaling on one of the cards and tucked it behind the photo and the other card.

    Three Very Different Layouts with the [Gossamer Blue] June Kits.

    Hey there 🙂 It’s the first of June (WHAT?!) and that means today is reveal day over at Gossamer Blue. And let me tell you this: the June kits are really fun! I loved playing with them because they are full of bright, cheerful colours and patterns that make you excited for summer to come!

     

    So, here are just a few of the projects I’ve made with them 🙂 The following three layouts are actually quite different from each other (at least in my mind 😉 )

     

    This first one is my favourite of all three:

    Favourite Café Layout by ScatteredConfetti. For this layout I handcut the flowers from this patterned paper by Simple Stories and I really love how it turned out! I’m actually quite proud of myself for finishing it (eventhough it’s not that big of a piece of paper) because when it comes to tedious things like that, I’m really not the most patient person on earth 😉

    To make the flowers really pop, I didn’t add any other patterned paper. Just some embellishments here and there and a tag behind the photo with some hidden journaling.

    This second layout is a bit of the opposite of the first one because this didn’t really turn out the way I had envisioned it.. I pushed those little squares around for what seemed like an eternity but was never really happy with it. Until I decided to just finally glue them down and finish it.. Maybe it will grow on me, who knows 😉

    This last layout might look familiar to you because I’ve already made two that are quite similar (here and here). In the Life Pages Main Kit there is always a card with the name of the month on it and I like to use that together with some others to make a layout to document that month. Of course the journaling is still missing because I don’t know (everything) that is going to happen in June, yet 😉

    I also used lots of the stamps from the Life Pages Main Kit on that layout. I stamped, heat embossed (with white embossing powder) and then handcut the “Hello” phrase and also added some stamping on the lower right journaling card. They just fit perfectly 🙂

    What I especially like about this last layout is the colour scheme. I don’t often use navy blue in my projects and definitely not together with yellow and light pink but I’ve got to admit: they look great together! What do you think?

    A Layout for [LoraBailora]’s ColorCombo Challenge.

    Hey there! 🙂 Today I have a treat for you! LoraBailora is hosting another scrapbooking challenge, and this time it is a Color Combo challenge which means you can create anything you want (card, layout, mini album, …) as long as it is inspired by the following mood board:

    I think the colours look absolutely fantastic and are perfect for spring! And I think the bright and cheerful pink and orange fit the LoraBailora products just perfectly – so it was no surprise that I found some products to make my layout with in no time 🙂

    It is a little bit different from my usual style (although I feel that it has changed quite a bit in the past few months) because there is no patterned paper (I used washi tape instead) and actually quite a lot of embellishments (I went a bit crazy with the enamel shapes 😀 ) ..but there is style my typical white cardstock as basis and the paint splatters 😉

    [SBW Bloghop] Alles neu macht der Mai – Inspiration mit Moodboard.

    Hallo und willkommen zum Bloghop der Scrapbook Werkstatt! 🙂 Wenn ihr von Anfang an durchgehüpft seid, müsstet ihr jetzt von Sandra zu mir gekommen sein.

    Genau wie im letzten Jahr (siehe hier) haben wir uns auch dieses Mal ein Moodboard zusammen gestellt das als Inspiration für uns (und natürlich auch euch!) dienen sollte. Oh, und psst: Unter allen Teilnehmern, die bis zum 08. Mai 2016 mitmachen, verlost die Scrapbook Werkstatt einen Einkaufsgutschein im Wert von sagenhaften 20 €. Um im Lostopf zu landen, müsst ihr nur einen kleinen Kommentar auf jedem der teilnehmenden Blogs hinterlassen! Das war´s auch schon; nicht schwierig, oder?

    Ich muss sagen, ich bin total verknallt in die Farben dieses Moodboards (okay, ich bin vielleicht auch etwas voreingenommen, schließlich habe ich es zusammengestellt 😀 – Ich hoffe euch gefällt es auch!). Und hätte ich umzugsbedingt nicht so wenig Zeit gehabt, hätte ich definitiv mehr als nur ein Layout bzw. Projekt damit gemacht! Sobald hier allerdings wieder ein bisschen Normalität und Ordnung eingekehrt ist, werde ich mir das Moodboard definitiv noch mal vornehmen 🙂

    Leider kann man es auf dem Foto nur schlecht erkennen, aber unter dem “Paradise” Schriftzug ist so ein netzartiger Tüllstoff – die Zuckerwatte vom Moodboard hat mich dazu inspiriert dieses Stoffstückchen nun endlich mal zu nutzen. Auch sonst finden sich einige Elemente aus dem Moodboard auf meinem Layout wieder: ein schräg gestreifter mint-weißer Streifen Washi, die Pünktchen/Kleckse, die abstrakten Muster und natürlich insgesamt die Farben 🙂

    Für dieses Projekt habe ich auch einfach mal durch meinen ganzen Fundus gewühlt und mir immer hier und da etwas rausgepickt, was zu dem Moodboard gepasst hat. Es hat richtig Spaß gemacht mal nicht nur mit einer bestimmten Kollektion zu arbeiten, sondern einfach alles wild durcheinander zu würfeln 🙂 Es sind Sachen aus der Goldie Kollektion von 7Paper dabei, die Thickers sind aus einer Amy Tangerine Serie, das Korkherzchen ist aus der C’est la vie Kollektion von Pink Paislee, usw.

    Happy Birthday LoraBailora [Blog Hop]!

    Hello and welcome to this Lora Bailora Birthday Bloghop! This blog hop was planned as a surprise by the LoraBailora design team for our “boss” Laura who is celebrating her 30th birthday today!!!

    So first of all: Let’s wish this wonderful, creative, talented woman the happiest of birthdays! Feliz cumpleaños, jefa!! 😉 <3

    Although we have never met in person (so far) I know that we would get along really well and I really hope that one day we will make it happen! I’m still amazed at how much you and your business have grown in the past year and a half! I still remember how I excited I was when I read your e-mail asking me to join a design team for your products that you had just recently started to create.

    Back then you only had a few acrylic stamp sets, all of them only in Spanish, and some badges. With every new release you really surprised me because your products just kept getting better and better and more and more people got to know you and your label and wanted to get some LoraBailora goodness for themselves. It didn’t take long until you made the first stamp sets in English, too and you also started designing your own washi tapes and thereby growing your range of products. Your washis are still my absolute favourites to use because they aren’t only really cute, they are also great quality – just like your stamps! Every time you showed us what products you had designed for the next release, I squealed with delight! And now you extended your range of products even more: you started with only acrylic stamps but now we can also get washi tapes designed by you, enamel shapes, acrylic blocks, badges (please bring back the badges!! 😉 ), wood veneer shapes, puffy stickers and roller stamps! You sell your products worldwide and lots of big online shops have them in stock, too. And now you even move to a new and bigger studio! It’s really inspiring to look at the growth of you and your business and keeping in mind that you managed all of this in only about two years, I can’t imagine what awesomne things you must have for us in this coming year!

    Finding Inspiration & Getting Un-Stuck [Scraplift Yourself].

    Hey! 🙂 I just wanted to let y’all know that today I’m over on the Gossamer Blue blog sharing an idea for what you can do when you feel uninspired, stuck or in a rut in your scrapbooking.

    When I received my March kits, I felt exactly that. So I thought about what I could do to get out of that rut and actually start creating again, and then I wrote a blogpost about it to maybe help some of you out there that might be in the same situation! If you would like to see how and what I chose as my basis and what the final result looks like, hop on over here – I’d love to know what you think about it. If you have ever scraplifted someone and maybe even yourself, too.

    Spring Fever with Crate Paper’s Bloom and the [SBW March Kit].

    I’ve already shown quite a few sneaks and also full projects that I’ve made with the Scrapbook Werkstatt March kits on Instagram but nevertheless I wanted to share them all here in one place so you can ooh and aah at all the pretty pieces that are included in the kit “Glitzerblume” (glitter flower – which fits the kit very well since it is full of florals and lots of gold & glitter!!). However, because I’ve made quite a lot of projects with this kit, I’m going to split them into to blog posts. Today I will share my three top favourite ones!

    Although the weather around here is still really cold and feels more like winter than spring, working with the kit put me in the mood for spring! The papers and embellishments are all really fresh and have a light and airy feel to them. And with all of the florals in the kit it is impossible not to get spring fever 😉

    This first layout definitely was the easiest and quickest one that I’ve made with the kit BUT it is also my most favourite of them all! It’s the first time that I’ve tried a big (or rather huge) photo layout and I must say, I love it! You just don’t have to add much more to the page to make it special. That’s why I only added the title, some stamped phrases (made with stamps from a Gossamer Blue stamp set) enamel dots and the fringed paper strips.

    For the ombré fringe I used the Moments paper from Maggie Holmes’ “Bloom” collection (Crate Paper). I started at the bottom of the paper and cut off four strips of paper. Then I cut into those strips from the bottom, but I didn’t cut completely through them – only so much that I could pull up the small strips to create the fringe.

    To finish it off the LO I just added this beautiful big “create” glitter die cut word from this Pebbles Inc. package. Yes, there are six different gorgeous glitter words in that one package and I have already used most of them 😀 Like on this next layout:

    For this layout I used almost no patterned paper, except for the border at the top of the page. I wanted those beautiful flower die cuts from the Bloom ephemera package to be the center of the page so I only added the glitter word and that pretty gold glitter tag. Beneath the glitter tag I layered a second one where I could add some journaling.

    And last but not least the third layout in my top three favourite ones for the Scrapbook Werkstatt March kit. And this one features lots of elements from the first two layouts: a fringe border, lots of florals and some gold glitter, because you can never have enough of that! 🙂

    I must admit that the floral pattern on this page might be my favourite floral patterned paper ever!! Unfortunately (for me), it’s not a whole sheet of paper but only a small card on this Fresh patterned paper from the Bloom collection. So, Crate Paper: could you make this pattern into a whole sheet, pretty please?? I will buy lots of it, I promise! 😀

    Alright, so that’s it for the first batch of layouts made with the SBW March kit. I have to say that I am really happy about each one of them – they turned out exactly like I imagined, maybe even better!

    I’m curious though: which of those three is your favourite layout, and why? 🙂

    And, because I can’t pass up a good floral pattern: which is/are your favourite floral patterned paper/s?

    Fresh & Clean Layouts with the [Gossamer Blue] February Kits.

    (This post should have gone live yesterday already but for some reason it didn’t and since I’ve spent the whole day at the PaperWorld/CreativeWorld exhibition in Frankfurt, I couldn’t get it up until now)

    How can it be February already?! I mean, where has January gone?

    I’m not too sad that it is February already though. I mean, it’s the month of S. and my birthday, we get to travel to Barcelona again (finally!!!) and it marks the beginning of a new stage of my life!! As you might know, I’ve been doing my teacher training to get my Second State Examination (2. Staatsexamen) and on January 31st I finally finished it!

    You might think that I’ll now be working as a “normal” teacher and you are absolutely… WRONG! Without going into too much detail and summing it up quickly: I and therefore also my dreams/goals/expectations for what I want my life to look like have changed and now I don’t want to work as a teacher anymore. It didn’t have anything to do with the students or that I didn’t enjoy teaching them, I really liked my classes (Hey there if anyone of you is reading 😉 ) and it was also a bit of a sad goodbye, it’s just that things have changed and I want to go a different path now.

    Wow.. the Gossamer Blue February kit reveal just got really serious 😀

    (I will write a bit more about my dreams, goals and plans for the next year(s) in a week-ish here. I will take some time on my birthday to reflect on all of that because in the past almost two years I didn’t really have time for any of that)

    But now on to something else: the Gossamer Blue February kits!

    Today I’ll just show you two layouts I’ve made with them. I also started doing Project Life (again..) and this time I feel that I’ve finally found the right format for me which makes me quite excited!! Especially because now I’ll have a good use for all of the pretty Life Pages cards from my Gossamer Blue kits – and this month’s might just be my favourite EVER! It’s the first month that I liked the Life Pages kit and add-ons even more that the Scrapbooking kit!

    But I haven’t had time to print my photos for January yet, so I’ll make sure to show you my LP pages once they are complete 🙂

    There isn’t much to tell about the photo/layout above. I took the photo in a really pretty store in Berlin and just really liked it so I had to scrap it 😉

    I was a bit impatient with doing the stitching on this LO so the mist (Heidi Swapp Color Shine – black) hadn’t fully dried.. But oh well, I guess there are worse things in life than a few paint smudges on a LO 😉
