My Top 10 Favourite Projects in 2017 – Blog Hop

Hey there and welcome to the “Top Ten Blog Hop 2017” – a blog hop where some papercrafters and scrapbookers share their personal favourite projects from this year. When Christine invited fellow crafters to join in on this blog hop, I immediately jumped on this chance because a) it’s so much fun to do a recap like this, and b) blog hops are always great – not only because there might be a giveaway or two along the road (although that certainly is a nice treat 😉 ), but also because you can discover new (to you) bloggers and crafters this way!

I decided to make a Top 10 “hitlist” (some people will share more, some less) of my personal favourites and tried to rank them but the ranking isn’t really “fixed” – it’s hard to do when there are so many different projects involved 😉 So, are you ready?

    1. This Accordion Summer Mini Album was without a doubt my No. 1 favourite project of this year! It still gives me so much joy flipping through the album and rediscovering all the details 🙂 You can also watch a quick flip-through (or a more detailed walk-through) video here.

    2. A close second were the projects I made for my “Use your Scraps” class over at Big Picture Classes; the class as a whole project was a lot of fun (and work!) to put together and I’m excited to see how you like it! I may or may not already be working on my next classes 😉

    3. Coffee and Crate Paper (especially the “Gather” collection) are two of my favourite things, so a layout that combines both of them must make it into my Top 10, right?! 😀

    But First Coffee by ScatteredConfetti. // #scrapbooking #layout #cratepaper

    4. Another mini album! My (not yet finished) December Daily album for this Christmas season. It’s the first time I didn’t give up after only three days and I’m very determined to get it finished in the first week of January (I will do my DD until Dec, 31st) because even in its unfinished state it already makes me so ridiculously happy to look through! (You can watch a quick flip-through video with my foundation pages and the first few finished ones here)

    5. This layout was my first project as part of the Pinkfresh Studio Design Team using the “Escape the Ordinary” collection and it still is one of my favourite layouts from this year. I just love the colour scheme and the photo I used 🙂

    Plantlove by ScatteredConfetti.

    6. This layout that I made with the Felicity Jane Heidi kit is also one of my favourites, which doesn’t surprise because the Heidi kit was also my absolute favourite FJ kit to work with this year (although it is really difficult to pick a favourite!)

    7. I think it’s always good to venture out of your comfort zone and sometimes the result might even end up being one of your favourite projects 😉 That’s what happened to me with this “Bloom” layout that is a bit more dimensional and, uh, die cutty (yeah, totally a word…) than my usual layouts 😉

    Bloom Layout by ScatteredConfetti. // #scrapbooking #spellbinders #diecutting

    8. Same goes for this “You Rock” banner that I made with the Boy’s Fort collection by Pinkfresh Studio – much more masculine than any of my projects but it was just SO much fun to make!

    You Rock Banner by ScatteredConfetti // #sizzix #pinkfreshstudio #scrapbookcom

    9. The “Wild at Heart” collection by Cocoa Vanilla was also one of my absolute favourite scrapbooking collections this year, so it’s no surprise that one of the layouts I made with it made it into my Top 10

    10. This Crop Packing List was not a scrapbooking project as such, but it is connected to scrapbooking and it definitely is one of my favourite things that I made this year! I’ve had the idea for making a Crop Packing List for quite a while, but never got around to doing it. When it was time to pack for a crop though, I knew I now had to make it happen 😉 You can download your free printable Crop Packing List here (it’s available in English, German and Spanish!) – hope you like it and get some use out of it!

Whew – what a year! It was a year full of trying new things (uploading my first videos to my YouTube channel, my first “own” online scrapbooking workshop, joining some amazing DTs (Felicity Jane, Pinkfresh Studio, Citrus Twist Kits), making my first free printable, …) and more), meeting new people, planning, making, creating… and it sometimes felt like everything was happening at the same time (and it sure was a lot of work!) but I feel so happy and grateful for all the chances and opportunities I was given this past year! I can’t wait to see what the new year brings (lots of exciting things are already in the planning/making!)

I hope you can all look back on the past year and find some favourite memories/projects/events/… and I would love to hear (or even better, see!) what your favourite project in 2017 was! Thanks so much for stopping by!

If you want to continue on this Blog Hop, you should now hop on over to Teri Anderson 🙂

    Mini Albums, Scrapbooking

Accordion Mini Album Summer 2016 + a Giveaway.

    Summer Mini Album

Hey there 🙂 Summer is in full swing around here, so I thought it’s the perfect time to share a mini album that I made about my favourite events and moments from Summer 2016. The base of the album was inspired by Stephanie Bryan’s “Summer Bucket List” mini album class at Big Picture Classes. I did change it a bit though, to make it a little sturdier.

With this mini album I also tried a few things for the first time, like the accordion binding and adding my journaling with my new We R Memory Keepers typewriter that I got from my former colleagues as a farewell gift. And: I can already tell that this will be a game changer for my scrapbooking projects! Lots of my layouts and mini albums lack a bit of journaling and the reason usually is that I don’t want to mess it up with my handwriting.. I try to add hidden journaling whenever I can, but I think having some “open” journaling does add a lot to a project.

Because the basic structure of the album is so simple, I actually managed to start and finish this one in one evening! I’m notorious for starting the next mini album before I finished the last one, but this time I was determined to get it done before I moved onto the next one – and I did it!  Cue happy dance 😀 I’m really happy with how it turned out and that I now have a record of some of my Summer 2016 highlights. Flipping through this album makes me really happy 🙂 So, be prepared for a whole truckload of photos. Oh, and at the end of this post I also linked the two videos I made for this album: one short(er) flip-through and one detailed walk-through with some explanations and babbling from me 😉

    Summer Mini Album

    Summer Mini Album

Each page of this album is a pocket page which I used to tuck in one photo on which I sow a piece of vellum. To add some journaling to the vellum I used my We R Memory Keepers Typecast typewriter and also embellished them with some sequins, stamps or the like. On this first page I listed some of my favourite memories from that summer, like the Adele concert we’ve been to in Barcelona or the fact that this was the first summer in our new apartment and I could go full on crazy plantlady on our big balcony 😀

    Summer Mini Album

On this page (above & below) I added a little shaker pocket that I made with a 4×4″ page protector and my Fuse tool. There’s probably (almost) no mini album of mine that doesn’t have a shaker pocket.

    Summer Mini Album

On some pages I also let the vellum flip stay on top of the pocket – that way you can read the journaling when flipping through the album.

    Summer Mini Album

    Summer Mini Album

For this page (above) it was really difficult to choose what photo I wanted to use because it’s about our Costa Brava trip and I have probably hundreds of photos. So I tried to find one that would work well with the colour scheme of this spread and would also look good with some vellum layered on top of it.

    Summer Mini Album

Actually, for all of the pages I was looking for very bright photos that had lots of white space – they are great to add some journaling to them.

    Summer Mini Album

At the end of the album I also included this paper bag to hold some more bits and pieces, like tickets, ephemera and some more favourite photos. For the closing “mechanism” I just added to brads and some punched out paper circles and then wrapped some golden twine around them.

    Summer Mini Album

As I said, I’m really happy with the result and I’m also proud of myself for actually having finished a mini album 😀

What do you think? I hope you like it! What kind of mini album maker are you – do you also start a new one (or two, or three.. 😀 ) before having finished the first or do you always finish your mini albums right away? (If you are the second type – tell me your secret! 😉 )

And now,as promised, here are the two videos that I made of this mini album:

Aaaaand *drumroll* these are also the first videos on my new YouTube channel!! And to celebrate I thought a giveaway was in order 😉 To be entered to win, just leave a comment on of the two videos. For additional entries, visit my Instagram profile and look for this photo. A Good Mix of “Shine” to Start the New Year: a Card, a Layout and a Mini-Album!

    Hey there!

I thought I would kick off the new year with some more “Shine” projects. The gray and rainy weather outside is kinda depressing so here’s a little bit of colour to brighten your day!

I made this layout for the monthly sketch challenge in the Scrapbook Werkstatt Sketch Section. The sketch this time came from the lovely Ulli. If you like, you can also try your hand at making a layout with this sketch (you can also do a 12×12″). If you do so, be sure to submit a link to your layout in the comment section here because then you have a chance to win a Scrapbook Werkstatt coupon!

Blank Mini Album with Crate Paper “Shine”.

6 Year Anniversary Mini by ScatteredConfetti
Hey guys 🙂 So, as promised, here is (one of) the mini albums I made with the Crate Paper “Shine” collection. Right now it’s still only the blank mini album, so all the photos and the journaling are still missing, but I just didn’t have enough time to select the photos I want for this album and get them all printed. I’ll do that when I get back home from my parents after Christmas. I really hate the photo sorting and printing process.. If it weren’t for that, I’d probably have many more finished mini albums!

But anyway, I still wanted to show you the mini album as it is right now. When I started making minis, I always had to have my photos printed so I could start. I just couldn’t imagine putting together the pages without knowing what photos I had or what I wanted to say. Now I enjoy the process of putting together the basis so much that I can’t wait until I have all the photos ready 😀

There are A LOT of photos, so be warned 😉 the end of all the photos you will also find a gif with a flip through the whole album. So if you are a bit impatient, you can of course just scroll down to see the gif – no hard feelings 😉

(Because there are still no photos or journaling in the album, it is quite straightforward so I won’t talk about any of the pages in particular)

My first December Daily Album Using the [Gossamer Blue December Memories Kit] – Customising Your Album.

Soo.. this year I’m trying my hands at creating a December Daily®/December Memories album for the first time! The past two or three years I just didn’t have enough time to a) create an album and b) do enough “exciting” things and take photos that I could actually use for such an album.

This year, however, it’s the first time in ages that I can actually enjoy the holiday season a bit. As you might have read on IG, I finally finished my teacher training and passed my final exam so I am now officially a teacher. This of course still means a lot of work but a lot less work than I’ve had in the past 1,5 years!

A Mini Album Tutorial with Pebbles DIY Home for [Scrapbook Werkstatt].

Hey there! I just wanted to let you know that I have a little “how to” blogpost for you on the Scrapbook Werkstatt homepage. The text is only in German there but you could use a translator tool or at least have a look at the photos I’m sharing (which are A LOT :D). I’ll try to write a blogpost in English about this mini sometime soon, though!
Anyways, I hope you stop by here to see the mini in its full glory 😀

A Mini Album Tutorial with Pebbles DIY Home for [Scrapbook Werkstatt].

    Scrapbooking, Workspace Wednesday

    [An Image Heavy] Workspace Wednesday.

Today I won’t share a peek into my craftroom because it is a complete mess right now. I’m still in the process of updating my inspiration wall and purging my stash, but I hope I’ll be able to show you some new photos in next week’s Workspace Wednesday edition.

But I do have a little something for you! A few days ago it occurred to me that I haven’t shared this mini album that I made as a gift for S. for our 5th anniversary last year.

I absolutely love mini albums but I don’t do them as often as I would like.. either because I don’t find the time (because once I have started it, I also want to get it done) or because I’m not really inspired.
In fact, the majority of the mini albums I’ve made so far were gifts for S.

For this one I wanted to try a more minimalist approach and channel my inner Caylee Grey – she does make the most beautiful minimalistic mini albums!! (For proof click here and here)
At first it was a bit odd to leave pages almost empty and add only one piece of embellishment or some text, but in the end I absolutely loved it! a) I finished this mini album much quicker than all the ones before and b) the focus is on the pictures and the feelings/thoughts I want to convey, rather than the products.
For the album I chose some of my favourite pictures of us or places/moments that mean something to us (which are mostly Barcelona & Costa Brava photos).

I have to admit that this is my all-time favourite mini I’ve made so far!

Okay, are you ready for the photo flood? Good!
(I’m sorry for the white line at the bottom of each photo.. I just noticed after I had edited all the photos. I have no idea what happened there >.<)

For the title page I just covered a piece of kraft cardstock with white acrylic paint, put that wood veneer frame & chipboard sticker on it, splashed some gold mist on the page and it was done.

I absolutely love the look of stickers/text on vellum and this one just fit perfectly! Also, gold! Never enough gold.

Normally I would have tried to add something to this page (above) because it seemed a bit empty, but now I’ve come to appreciate this clean and simple look!

Here I finally tried my hand at printing a photo directly onto vellum and what can I say? It’s awesome!!

I have never before bought those standout sticker embellishments (Crate Paper and AC have them) because I always thought that they were a bit too expensive but with this collection (Notes & Things) I caved and bought almost everything from it – and I’m so glad I did! I think it adds the perfect little touch!

More vellum and gold, because you can never go wrong with any of those, right?!

That “love”-cut was made with a Sizzix BigShot. I don’t have one but I could try it out when I was scrapping at a friend’s place and since then I’ve been considering getting one.. I’m still on the fence.. But I sure love the look and how easy & fast it is.. So much easier than getting my Cameo out and all set up.

This photo (above) is one of my absolute all-time favourite photos of S. and I, so it definitely deserved to get a whole spread! Although I’ve also already included it on the first page of this album..

You said: “Do you want to marry me?” and I said: “Yes, of course I do!”

Fun fact: We always get each other a small present on our anniversary day and last year I decided to get a Chemex for S. Since it hadn’t arrived until that day, I put a photo I found online and had printed out in that kraft pocket. Now I still needed something to seal the pocket.
You cannot imagine how I squeeled with delight when I found this “You’re the cream of my coffee” sticker from the Carta Bella “Hello Again” collection!! It’s as if it was meant to be! 😀

    To Be Continued…

    A One Sheet Only [Minialbum].

Schaut doch mal vorbei! 🙂

    Hey guys!

Just wanted to pop in to let you know that I am sharing a DIY idea for a cute and simple mini album over in the Scrapbook Werkstatt Inspiration Gallery. All you need for the album itself is only one sheet of patterned paper – how cool is that? 😉

The text and the video are in German, but it’s actually pretty easy to understand from just watching the video 😉
So, I’d be happy if you stopped by.

The Best Time is Now. [Papierprojekt Mini Album]

Long time no see, right? Well this time of the year is, as probably for most of you, quite stressful and hectic. Although it should also be a time where we calm down, pause and take in all the impressions and feelings because this Christmas time is something special which passes so very quickly year after year.
I didn’t have much, if any time left for scrapping or doing anything creative in the past two weeks because of my job. Last week was the peek of all this stressfulness and work and now it’s finally getting a bit calmer and I have some time left to enjoy our Christmas tree, the Christmas market and also to work on some creative projects.

Since I got the beautiful Papierprojekt Kit from Felicitas I made two projects that I’ve already shown you and one that has been in the making for the whole time and isn’t finished even now.. But because I really wanted to show it to you and because I have no idea when I will have the time to finish it, I decided to take some photos of the half finished album and just show you 😉

Right now it’s just the basis of a Mini Album and only two or three photos, but once it’s done it is meant to be a collection of some of my favourite moments in 2014. Just random bits and pieces 🙂 I put all the photos of my mini album basis into little collages so I don’t have such a huge picture flood in this post but without leaving anything out 😉
(Click on the pictures to enlarge)

I made this little shaker bag similar to the tutorial I showed you a while back, only that this time I used the little clear plastic bag of some enamel dots to put in my wood veneer shapes and sequins. I just cut off the top of the bag and sewed it up. Easy as that! 🙂

I also made some little pockets on the back side of some pages to hold random photos or bits and pieces such as tickets/receipts… I just sewed a small strip of patterned paper onto the page. Simple and easy! And if you sew it on and don’t glue you won’t run the risk of putting your photos in and ruining them with some glue that might stick on the photo!

This shaker bag is actually the exact same one I made for the tutorial a few weeks ago. I like to make things like this in batches so I can reach for them when I’m working on a new project. 🙂

In this collage you can see one of those sewn pockets a bit closer 🙂 I like to add such details to hold as many photos and memories in a little album like this!

Now I hope that I will have the time (and energy 😉 ) to finish this album maybe before the next year begins.. Or at least somewhen in January. Because I know myself and if it will sit on my table unfinished for longer than that, the chance that it will actually be completed will decrease from week to week.. Nevertheless I like flipping through this little cutie quite a lot already! 🙂

    And here’s the full album:

Tomorrow I’ll be back with a new layout that I’ve made with the new Dear Lizzy “Serendipity” collection!

Costa Brava. [Crate Paper Mini Album]

Alright, here comes, as promised, the “big” project I made using the Dani Peuss August kit. For this mini album about our trip to the Costa Brava in June last year I used the following things:

The accordion book from the Crate Paper “Open Road” collection, the polaroid frames, thickers and the ephemera bits were all in the kit, so I didn’t need to add much more. Just a few enamel dots (I can’t do anything without them), some cork stickers, glassine bags and wood veneer bits (can’t live without them either).

So, here’s what’s the result of all these things combined (be warned, lots of photos coming!):

I created this polaroid shaker window by cutting off the packaging of some enamel dots, filling in some sequins, wood veneer bits and some Studio Calico chipboard hearts and also inserting the playlist of the CD we listened to most of the time while driving to Spain 🙂 Then I sealed it with some washi tape and adhered it to the back of that polaroid frame – easy and cute!

In this little glassine bag I put all the left over photos that didn’t fit in the album but that I also wouldn’t want to miss when looking at it again! 🙂
You could also use a little bag like this to put in some pieces you collected during your vacation (like tickets, receipts, etc.).

And here’s the front and back as a whole:

I’m really happy with how it turned out and after this mini album I still had quite a lot of thickers, ephemera bits and about half of the polaroid frames left! These packages are chock-full of awesome goodies 🙂

What really helped me make this album in only a few hours (from printing the photos to the finished result) was the “premade” accordion book with some bits (like the pocket on the 4th page, for instance) already on the pages and using the coordinating products. When making a mini I often struggle with deciding on the base of my album (i.e. the papers I want to use, in which order I want them, which size etc.) – this time I didn’t have to think about that, it was already done for me 🙂

What about you: what’s your process when making a mini album, how do you decide on the products you want to use etc.? I love making those and would like to do get some tips and tricks from you!

    Products used:
    Dani Peuss August kit
    My Mind’s Eye enamel dots
    American Crafts arrow cork stickers
Studio Calico “Essentials” chipboard hearts & stars
    Studio Calico wood veneer shapes
