Hey there, I’m finally back! After a long, unplanned break here on the blog, I have a mini album to share with you today! I’m pretty excited about how this one turned out and hope you’ll like it, too!
You can also find a video with a tutorial for how to create an album like this and a look at my finished album at the end of this post.
This album is a star pop-up album, meaning when you open it, it has the shape of a star with some pop-up elements. I mostly used the Sweet Story* collection for this but also mixed in some Sunny Days. I am absolutely in love with how well these two collections mix and match!
The base of the album itself is fairly easy to make and you don’t need a whole lot of supplies to make it.
Here’s what you need:
- 5 pieces of white cardstock in 5″x10″
- 5 pieces of patterned paper in 5″x10″ (can be the single-sided paper)
- 2 pieces of patterned paper in 5″x5″ for the cover
- adhesive
- ribbon to close the album
- embellishments + photos
Optional: die-cutting machine and circle dies (you could also cut rectangular/square windows with an x-acto knife instead), magnets (for the closure)
The finished album measures 5″x5″ but you could adapt the size and shape to your needs. If you want to make a rectangular album that measures 4″x6″, for example, your paper strips would need to measure 8″x6″.
After I was done with creating the base of my album, I picked out my photos. I selected five of my favorite photos from our trip to Tuscany last year and then embellished the pages accordingly. If you wanted to include more photos, you could also do photo collages instead of the one large photo, include pockets or add some small ones on the side of each spread.
To cover up the white cardstock on the front and back of the album, I used the B-side pattern from the Highlight paper from the 12″x12″ Paper Pad. This album is a great project to use those single-sided papers!
For the title of my album I used the Sweet Pea Thickers and one of the Chipboard Stickers. I love how well they coordinated with the colors of the patterned paper!
And that’s it! As promised, here is the video tutorial so you can make your own star pop-up album and also a quick walkthrough of my finished project.
I hope you enjoyed this project and it inspires you to create your own! Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks a lot for stopping by! Xo, Kathleen
