Hey there! I’m excited to share one of my first projects with the gorgeous new Crate Paper/Maggie Holmes “Sunny Days” collection* with you today! This layout is probably one of my all-time favorites that I ever made and I hope you like it, too!
Rolled Paper Flowers
For the main element on this page, the rolled paper flowers, I used a few different cutfiles from the Silhouette store (mostly from Paige Evans) and my Silhouette die cutting machine. I wanted to keep the color scheme limited to pink, blue and yellow and only use a little bit of green for the leaves.
The papers I used for the flowers are Parasol and Coral for the pinks, Seaside for the yellow flowers and Beach Day for the blue ones. For the leaves I used the Wander paper and I absolutely love this shade of dark hunter green!
I made sure to use a variety of styles and sizes for the flowers, to have some variety and dimension on the page. To hold them together, I’ve found that using a hot glue gun works best!
The Photo
Up to this point I hadn’t decided on what photo I wanted to use, but I knew that it would have to be something special! I finally chose one of the photos of my husband and me on our wedding day.
To make it stand out between all of those very dimensional and bright flowers, I used an embroidery hoop from my stash that I had saved for a special project. The hoop measures about 5″, so I sized my photo accordingly and then printed it in black and white to make it contrast the colorful flowers.
Embellishing
The next part then came together very quickly. All that was left to do was to arrange the flowers around the hoop and embellish the page a little bit. Since the flowers and embroidery hoop should be the main focus on this layout, I didn’t want to overdo it with embellishments.
I used some black leaf stickers and the “Let the journey begin” phrase from the Clear Sticker Book (which I love!), and combined them with the XOXO and “Best Day Ever” from the Phrase and Icon Thickers.
Finally, I fussy cut two butterflies from the Blissful paper (I mean, you kinda have to have butterflies with all those flowers, right?!) and put one of the supercute Fabric Bows on the embroidery hoop.
I hope you like this layout! Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks a lot for stopping by today and I hope you have a great day! 🙂
