Hey there! I’m back already with yet another mini album to share! The inspiration for this album came from the boxed card set in the Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper Heritage collection* and my two newest tools: the WRMK pocket punch board and the book binding tool. I really wanted to use them, and this project was perfect for it!
You can find a video flipthrough of the finished mini album at the end of this blogpost or on my YouTube channel.
How to make an album like this:
- Choose your favorite patterned paper(s) for the cover. The thickness of the spine depends on how many envelopes/pages you want to add.
- Pick some cards from the boxed cards set and cut them to fit the height of the album. If you don’t have the cards, just cut & fold patterned papers.
- Create envelopes and pockets from your favorite patterned papers. To add some interest, make them different sizes.
You can mix things up by adding in a vellum pocket, too. I always love the look of vellum!
Once you have all the pieces for your album ready, you can put them together and bind the album. I mostly followed my friend Steffi Ried‘s tutorial on the WRMK blog for binding the album, so if you want to know more, hop on over.
Now the really fun part begins: the embellishing! I used a mix of flat embellishments, like the clear stickers or cardstock stickers, and others that add a little dimension, like the chipboard stickers or the gold glitter butterflies.
I used this mini album to keep some of my favorite photos of my husband and I (and our dog) and to document some of my favorite moments and memories together.
The pockets and envelopes are perfect if you want to add in more photos or to keep some journaling that should stay a little more private.
I’m very happy with how this album turned out and that I was able to use my two new tools and the boxed card set (for something other than making cards).
And now, as promised, here’s a video flipthrough of the finished album. I decided not to film a tutorial since, as I said, I mostly used Steffi’s instructions.
I hope you enjoyed this project and feel inspired to make an envelope/pocket album of your own! Thanks a lot for stopping by! Xo, Kathleen
